New month, new yarn, new samples in the shop!
A couple weeks ago, Hannah offered to let me hang her “Aidez” cardigan in the shop for awhile – how marvelously kind of her!:
She knit this with 2 skeins (actually, just one and a half!) of Cascade Ecological Wool – those mega skeins just go on forever! You can find the pattern for free on Berroco’s website here: http://berroco.com/exclusives/aidez/aidez.html
And if you’ve been in the store in the last couple weeks, you may have spied me wearing this:
This is the “Cardamom” cardigan from Berroco’s “Wintery Mix” booklet, knit in bulky-weight Berroco Peruvia Quick. True to its name, this yarn knits up so fast and is soooo cozy. Plus, a cabled button-band! The buttons actually button-up through the holes naturally made by the cable structure on the other side. So cool!
On a side-note, we still have space in Glenna‘s Quick and Cozy Cables class on Saturday, November 10, a great introduction to cables using bulky-weight yarn, so you can make swift progress in the two-hour class. For more advanced cable technique, she’s also teaching Twisted Stitches and Travelling Cables that day! Many of Glenna’s most popular designs feature these intricate twisted stitches – check out her designer page on Ravelry to see what I mean! http://www.ravelry.com/designers/glenna-c
We’ve also received a TON of new yarn in this last week, so here’s a round-up of the most notable:
Berroco Vintage Chunky in new colourways!
As well as Berroco Vintage DK!
and new Berroco Ultra Alpaca (upper shelf) and Vintage (lower shelf), two of our most popular worsted-weights!
We also now have Berroco’s Blackstone Tweed Chunky, our first tweedy chunky-weight! (I saw a pair of cabled mittens in a tweedy yarn on Ravelry and nearly died, they were so nice! Everything’s coming up CABLES this season!)
Another new yarn for the store is Debbie Bliss’ Riva, a semi-self-patterning chunky weight – I’ve been thinking the Capucine hat would look fantastic in this yarn! (and that’s a free pattern, too!)
And new winter-y colourways in Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino, as well as her brand new book, Baby Cashmerino 4, featuring patterns for infants *and* children! There are some super-adorable patterns in this book, and whereas the previous Baby Cashmerino books only feature patterns up to 36 months, several of these new patterns are sized for children 3 – 6 years! Perfect!
And as if all the rest wasn’t enough, a new issue of Piecework magazine and the special issue Crochet Accessories just arrived this morning!
More news soon!

Your Cardomon looks lovely – perfect for this cold damp waether we are having.
