Fibre Arts Festival 2012

may 2012 002

So, the Peterborough Fibre Arts Festival was on Saturday and I had a terrific time. My awesome mother pictured above (it looks like her eyes are closed, but she’s just looking down – she insisted that she be knitting in the photo!) held down the fort at our cute booth while I was free to run back and forth between festival and store… But while I was there I saw some amazing things:

may 2012 006

(Various fibres and yarns from the Stoddart Family Farm booth)

may 2012 012

(rug hooking)

may 2012 016

(Some weaving going on here, which was all explained to me at the time, but now is just a foggy memory of “heddles” and such. I think my weaving literacy needs work…)

may 2012 019

(A woven scarf-in-progress)

may 2012 014

(Kniterary table! With various FO’s on display)

may 2012 015

(Just in case you don’t know, Kniterary is a monthly event at the Peterborough Public Library on the last Monday of every month from 7-9 p.m. This month the topic is Brioche, which is one of those things I’ve always found intimidating and have never gotten around to exploring, so I’m really going to try to make it out that night! You should too!)

may 2012 021

(While I was gone, Chloe was holding her own shop-side. When I got back she colour-coded the Indigodragonfly MCN Worsted…)

may 2012 024

(… while I put our new supply of fabric-covered buttons up on the wall.)

And now, as of this morning, we have a bright new palette of Baby Bamboo in stock…

may 2012 036

And a new colourway of Malabrigo Sock, “Candombe”, which we’ve NEVER HAD IN THE SHOP BEFORE. Predominantly dark blue with purples and greens and a hint of gold…

And as the parade of knitting-related events continues, don’t forget about Glenna’s trunk show this Friday:

Trunk Show! May 11th!

I even made a facebook event for it here:

if you want to make your attendance all “official” (and invite all your friends!). Hope to see you there!

That’s my favourite shade of malabrigo! I’ve chose it twice, without knowing, to mix with other colours. Plays well with others!
